Bennetts British Superbike Championship organiser MSVR has today (Wednesday) announced an updated 2020 calendar following approval by its governing body, the MCRCB.
The new schedule will feature six triple-header events, totaling 18 championship rounds, all of which will be broadcast live on Eurosport with free to air highlights on Quest and ITV4.
Following extensive consultation with teams, broadcasters, partners and circuits, the revised provisional calendar will begin at the start of August with the opening rounds taking place at Donington Park (National) on 7/8/9 August before moving to Snetterton later in the month (21/22/23 August) for the second event.
The title fight will then move on to the Silverstone National circuit on 4/5/6 September with Oulton Park hosting the fourth event of the season on 18/19/20 September.
The penultimate event will take place at Donington Park (Grand Prix) on its original date of 2/3/4 October with the traditional season finale to decide the champion two weeks later on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, maintaining the weekend of 16/17/18 October.
Round 1: Donington Park National (7-9 August)
Round 2: Snetterton 300 (21-23 August
Round 3: Silverstone National (4-6 September)
Round 4: Oulton Park (18-20 September)
Round 5: Donington Park GP (2-4 October)
Round 6: Brands Hatch GP (16-18 October)
Rounds two and three of the 2020 British Superbike Championship, due to be held at Oulton Park and Donington Park, have been postponed.
The news comes following the MCRCB and the ACU’s decision to suspend all motorcycle circuit racing events until at least May 31. Their decision was made following the updated government measures, announced on March 23, to try and suppress the spread of coronavirus and help the NHS as much as possible.
BSB 2020 is Suspended
Following the MCRCB and the ACU’s suspension of all motorcycle circuit racing events until at least the end of April, a decision which will be kept under review as the situation progresses, MSVR can confirm that the forthcoming official test (1/2 April) at Silverstone is cancelled, and the opening round of the 2020 Bennetts British Superbike Championship also at Silverstone (10-12 April), will be postponed until later in the year.
Series promoter and organiser MSVR is continuing to work closely with teams, circuits, broadcasters and partners to evaluate the constantly-changing situation and will provide further updates when available.
