GL1800 Gold Wing
ALSO KNOWN AS: Lead Sled,
Over it’s more than three decades of travelling the world’s highways, the majestic Gold Wing has become almost an institution of luxurious two-wheeled touring pleasure.
REVIEW:
The Gold Wings unique fuel-injected flat-six engine delivers tireless performance together with incredible smoothness and minimal noise. Just as the engine enjoys a legendary reputation for reliability, so the rest of the machine is finished to the very highest standards, with outstanding build quality and paint finish.
Its smoothly impressive engine performance, remarkably responsive yet neutral handling and unrivalled carrying capability all combine to create one of the most impressive, enjoyable and ultimately satisfying touring machines to traverse the highways of Europe and the world. More than just a riding machine, the Gold Wing offers a long distance touring experience par excellence.
The 2012 model sports updated styling as well as new colours and panniers.
New For 2012More dynamic exterior stylingAs befits the Gold Wings status as an aerodynamically refined touring powerhouse, the new model has revised exterior styling. Bold, integrated lines better link the front and rear of the machine, communicating its elegance and performance with sharp, dynamic forms. The re-shaped rear light further adds to the distinctive new look.

MODEL HISTORY
Over 30 years of a machine that’s grown into one of history's definitive motorcycles the Honda Gold Wing. The story started in October, 1974 when the first Honda GL1000 Gold Wing was unveiled to the news media in time for the 1975 model year. The original bike was a 999cc, liquid-cooled flat four that was – at the time – one of the sportiest motorcycles on the market. As the years rolled by the machine grew in size and capacity and its abilities grew with it. In 1980 the Wing’s engine capacity was increased to 1085cc and the GL1100 came enclosed in a fairing while panniers and a top box indicated its new touring capability.
