Other Charges You Can Expect To Pay When You Buy A Bike
We don’t believe in being anything other than totally up front about the costs of buying your motorcycle from us, so here’s the Q+A for the most asked questions, in plain English.
What is the £69 sales administration fee for?
All bikes sold by ThunderRoad – except off road and children’s bikes – are subject to a sales administration fee of £69.
We charge the sales administration fee, or doc fee as it's often known, for the preparation of all documentation and the securing of licences.
These include HPI clearance (to make sure the vehicle has no outstanding finance), MoT, road fund licence, warranty, service plan, GAP, insurance, finance and other titles, plus the recording of such documentation as required by the manufacturer, the law and other regulatory authorities.
Processing all this paper work is costly and time consuming so we charge a fee on the sale of each bike to cover our costs.
What are the extra charges when I buy a new bike on a special offer?
Manufacturers list prices are generally on the road (OTR) prices with no extras.
However, if we are advertising a new bike at a discount, the price quoted will always be for the bike, a pdi (pre – delivery inspection) and number plate only.
There will be an extra £38 for the government first registration fee, plus whatever the road fund licence (tax disc) costs, for 12 months these are currently:
Over 600cc - £66 (6 months available for £36.30)
401cc to 600cc - £48
151cc to 400cc - £33
Less than 150cc - £15
How much do you charge for delivery?
Our delivery charges are shown below. We recognise that some people would prefer to have the bike delivered so as to avoid it getting dirty on the first ride – given the Welsh weather.
Within 10 mile radius of Bridgend - FREE
Over 10 miles but under 40 (outside Bridgend, but covers Cardiff and Swansea) - £25
Between 40 miles but up to 100 miles - £50
Over 100 miles - price on application
In Summary
If you're bike is for the road you will have to pay the £69 doc fee, road tax of between £15 and £66, if it's a new bike add another £38 first reg fee (unless it was advertised as OTR) and if you want it delivered it'll cost between nothing and £50 if you're 100 miles away.
If it's an off roader none of this applies apart from the delivery.
Hopefully these answers will cover all your questions, but if not then call the sales team or fill in the form on the left and we’ll do our best to help.
Please note: If you are looking for the really, really small print with complicated, unintelligible legalese containing sneaky disclaimers and hidden charges, there isn’t any. We strongly believe in treating customers fairly and we've got noting too hide.
